Galaxy S may hit T-Mobile next month
(Updated with Samsung invite) Samsung's Galaxy S could be ready for the US as soon as next month, a historically accurate contact mentioned today. The Android phone is now thought to be reaching T-Mobile first and shipping July 21. While unconfirmed by TmoNews, it corroborates a pre-release demo that clearly showed T-Mobile-specific apps.
The schedule is supported by a Samsung promo page for the Galaxy S' arrival in the US. It does little else besides summarize the features of the smartphone but does promise that it should arrive in the summer.
Regardless of country, the Galaxy S is Samsung's first true headlining Android phone and uses a 1GHz custom-made processor, a four-inch Super AMOLED screen that should be useful outdoors, and a five-megapixel camera with 720p video recording. It's similarly Samsung's first phone with Android 2.1 preloaded, although it varies from the Galaxy Spica and earlier models by using a custom interface patterned after Bada.
Update: Samsung has sent out invitations for a June 29 media event referencing the "next generation in Android smartphones" and with a galaxy background. The press invite doesn't provide any clues of its own to a release date but would line up with a July 21 release.
