Microsoft Office Mobile 2010 launches for WM 6.5

Microsoft on Wednesday released Office Mobile 2010 for owners of smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.5. The app suite is ready for Windows Phone Marketplace for every smartphone with a previous version of Office Mobile. The new program will allow users to edit Office documents stored on their phone or as e-mail attachments and browse, edit and update documents hosted with SharePoint 2010.

Office Mobile includes new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and SharePoint Workspace. Using PowerPoint, users can now add videos, text and images from their handsets. Word gets auto-previewing, while Excel has deeper data visualization abilities. Documents can be edited offline and the changes synced back to the cloud when a data connection is restored.

Windows Phone 7 will have its own version of Office built-in as a hub for the larger OS.
