NVIDIA GeForce GTX480/470 set to launch March 26

Company's first Fermi-based GPUs
NVIDIA will officially launch the GeForce GTX480 and GTX470 graphics cards next month at the upcoming PAX East gaming conference, according to a Twitter post. The components are the first to integrate the company's Fermi architecture. The technology is said to improve graphics performance while expanding support for other standards such as OpenCL and PhysX
The GTX470 and GTX480 are believed to offer more shader cores than the current GTX275 and GTX285 components, along with support for DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3. NVIDIA has yet to announce a full set of specs, however.
The official unveiling is slated for March 26th, coinciding with NVIDIA's GeForce LAN event at PAX 2010.

What good is performance when it costs more than the competition? And when you have to wait 6 months just to respond to your competitor, it needs to be better at a MINIMUM in order for it to sell well. Plus, we all know that most cards are sold in the sub-$200 range. Who knows when Fermi will go down that low? By that time, ATi will already be pumping out derivative cards.
